Law Enforcement IR Applications

The Law Enforcement Thermographers’ Association, a professional, non-profit, international law enforcement organization that promotes the legal and ethical use of thermal imaging in support of law enforcement operations, operates a series of training programs to train law enforcement agents in the use of Infrared Thermal Imagers and Night Vision devices.
CERTIFICATION
The United States Drug Enforcement Administration has subscribed to the Advanced, Rectification, and Instructors Courses offered by the Law Enforcement Thermographers Association. In addition, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has adopted the criteria established by LETA. and is utilizing LETA to instruct their agents and personnel.
“‘LETA’ RECOGNIZES TWELVE (11) CURRENT LAW ENFORCEMENT APPLICATIONS FOR THE USE OF THERMOGRAPHY. THESE APPLICATIONS ARE NOT FINITE, NOR LIMITED IN NUMBER AS LAW ENFORCEMENT HAS, AND WILL CONTINUE TO DEVELOP NEW APPLICATIONS AS THE LAW AND SCIENCE EVOLVE.”
