About Temperatures.com
Founded in 2001, the company began as a temperature sensor and applications consulting company with a website, About Temperature Sensors (www.temperatures.com) I had started the original website in 1997 as an adjunct to courses that I taught on Temperature Measurement for the ISA in the USA. Over the next few years the Web grew and so did the website, joined in 2002 by TempSensor.net as an adjunct news and directory website.
The news and directory features of TempSensor.net grew apart. In 2006 the news function was turned over to TempSensorNEWS.com as a free, open, news only website with free access to anyone wishing to post a news story. They are, of course reviewed (vetted) and submissions may not be published as entered or published at all.
TempSensor.net now looks very different, since it’s open directory layout has been brought to the front page.
Visitors may submit their company information for free listing (or revisions) and we urge those website owners with tutorials and white papers buried on their websites to submit them, especially if they provide applications, technology or other help to potential temperature or moisture sensor users.
We think of it as a win-win-win opportunity!
Submitters win, because their hard work gets listed on the most popular web directory and it is easier for a searcher to find. Unfortunately the Web Search engines don’t get the deep technical info easily unless it is listed in a focused, searchable directory.
(Do you recall how Yahoo started? That’s how our flagship website About Temperature Sensors got and keeps such high listings there and elsewhere on the Web; it was in their directory more than 11 years ago)
The Site Visitor wins, because there’s more and more, in-depth content on our website. It’s not just content from one supplier or technology resource, but from many. If your information isn’t there, you lose out to those whose information is there.
We win, too, because our content is the most representative of what’s available on the Web. More people link to our website and Google, among others, recognises that. In turn, TempSensor.net ranks in searches for special keywords, like “temperature sensors”. Do the search and see where we rank. It’s been on Google’s first page for quite a while now.
Our accompanying website, MeasurementDevices.com, started in 1998 as almost an afterthought, grew even faster. We are doing the same things there,a little differently however since there is so much more available information and web resources.
In 2005 we decided to expanded and created the Measurement Media Division of Temperatures.com, Inc. to manage and develop more websites based on the first three; there was just so much freely available material and resources on the Web, it became difficult to keep it all contained and readily navigable for the interested visitor.
MeasurementMedia (MeasurementMedia.com), aimed to cover Meetings, Standards, Publications and Education & Training was formed. It has weekly news of CFPs, new standards and much more as well as a growing, searchable database of organizations, publications, standards, meetings, educational aids and training offering all related to measurement and measurement devices.
Measurement DataBases (MeasurementDB.com), provides a much larger collection of online data and resources on measurements and the technologies behind different device types than the originals listings on MeasurementDevices.com. The site also published regular news on developments and programs related mostly to high technology R&D using advanced measurement methods.
All three sites feature free directories of vendors and technology resources and we see the same win-win-win benefits with each of these websites.
In addition, we are welcoming more and more direct submissions of press and news release from PR Firms and Departments worldwide. Right now we get more from agencies in the UK than the USA, but they are coming in, especially from China! Submissions have been also received from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Dubai, Germany, Finland,
Our philosophy on news release priority is that submitted ones have first priority, they save us time and manpower (that’s obvious)
Emailed news is second, including those from email newsletters (and we get a bunch).
Third priority goes to news that we dig out, mostly from Web resources, but print resources as well.
Our main goal is to aid vendors and users by providing freely searchable, current information and news of the technologies, practices and uses of measurement devices of all kinds. Special emphasis is placed on industrial and scientific measurements as opposed to marketing, sales and financial measurements.
This site and SpectralEmissivity.com and others were added in 2006 and 2007 and the growth goes on!
Welcome and enjoy them all and feel free to submit your findings and news as appropriate.
